![]() ![]() Originally released solely in French, it has since been translated into many other languages. I have several ideas of what I'd love a game to look like but so far I'm just not dedicated enough to create it, and projects like Wakfu, Dofus Arena, Waven or even non-Ankama games, which aren't the big success I would predict, make me think that alone, I have no chance to be remotely close to get people to play the game I'd like to create.Massively multiplayer online role-playing gameĭofus is a tactical turn-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Ankama Games, a French computer game manufacturer. My post has no structures and I'm just writing as I think, but I also attempted to create a Dofus-Like game with unity or other software but I've never manage to get anything playable so far. Now that we think of that, Wakfu is the game that should have been the Dofus killer, being Dofus but better, without moving map by map, many interesting mechanics but as we can see, wakfu is still much less popular than dofus.ĭofus lack of new players, because the game is just not adapted to the gaming codes of today. In terms of gameplay it's definitely very niche, a game that ask you to know radians to kill the Harebourg boss is definitely not mainstream, and overall reading long quest, advancing map by map are old mechanics that where here because of previous hardware limitations.īut that is also a strength in some extend, dofus doesn't need a good computer to run. Lot's has to do with nostalgia as well, I was 9 when I first played Dofus and I remember playing it with my classmates. I'd love feedback as to what makes dofus work/ not work for you :)ĭofus works because it has a great universe, especially as a french speaker, the number of cool reference is really appreciate. But like I said nothing is for sure, might end up being a co-op adventure of freeing a sentient ring from an evil person who is wearing it and abusing it's power! Hahaha ![]() Right now what I'm aiming for seems to be a kin to Waven and the current 3v3 battles in dofus kolizeum. This being my first game, thriving to make an mmo sounds very grandious so I have to scale down. I plan to keep a lot of the way spells and mouvement is as I really like the way they do it. I will be using the Unity engine mainly because it's the first I found and it seems to fit my needs pretty well so far.Ĭurrently I am the only one working on the project but it is definitely still a hobby at the moment.įor twists on the formula I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet but from the feedback of the post I think I'll try to make combats as quick and responsive as possible. Yes for sure! Those are totally valid requests!įor a bit of background this will be my first game and I currently work as a web developer, so game dev is my strong suite but I'm familiar with coding principales.
